When was the last time you bought a product or service and checked its online reviews before you committed?

Online reviews are now key to commercial success. 92% of consumers read online reviews and 63% of customers are more likely to make a purchase if the business site features user reviews.

You get a ratings and reviews system with your NAPIT Keep Busy account – manage this correctly and you’re much more likely to attract new customers. Try these 3 tips to help you use your reviews to grow your business.

1. Encourage your customers to leave reviews

It’s important to recognise that if you want reviews, you’ll probably have to give your customers a bit of a nudge. Think about it – when was the last time you wrote a review for something totally unprompted?

Get into the habit of asking your customers to leave you a review once you’ve completed a job for them. It’s probably easiest to do this either the last time you speak to them about the job or via email with a link to your profile page. Don’t pester or pressure them – a gentle reminder is all that’s required.

Plus, we’ll send the customers you get through the Keep Busy scheme reminders to review your service 4 and 30 days after you receive their enquiry.

2. Don’t be tempted to fake it

Reviews take time to build up. If you get impatient then it can be tempting to buy fake reviews. But don’t!

Fake reviews are often quite easy to spot – they tend to be overbearing and written in a noticeably similar style. If you get caught out (and you probably will) it could seriously damage your business’ reputation.

3. Turn negative reviews around

It’s easy to see positive reviews as good for your business and negative ones as bad for them. But this isn’t necessarily true. Granted, a series of bad reviews on your Keep Busy Smart profile or website has big potential to damage your business. But engaging with a bad review and taking steps to put it right can show you in a really positive light.

So, if you do get left a bad review, reply to show that you’re addressing the issue and take steps to put it right. The chances are that you’ll be able to get the customer to change their review to a positive one. And even if you don’t, other customers will see the effort that you’ve put in to address the reviewer’s concerns.

So, don’t underestimate the power of online reviews. Use these 3 tips to manage your Keep Busy reviews to show homeowners how great your work is and grow your business.
